Hand Therapy

Your hands contain an intricate system of nerves, blood vessels, tendons, ligaments, muscles, joints and bones that work together to provide motion and sensory information, such as touch and temperature. Because of the complex structure of the hand and wrist, it is advisable to seek rehabilitation from a therapist who has specialized training in treating the hand and upper extremity.

What is Hand Therapy?

During hand therapy, your therapist will use therapeutic intervention, modalities, splinting and manual techniques specifically developed for the hand, wrist, elbow, arm, and shoulder. We have highly trained hand therapists on staff who are dedicated to providing unparalleled care and an individualized treatment plan that will get you back to work, to play and to living, as quickly as possible. WHAT TO EXPECT

Hand therapy is different for everyone, but you should expect your appointments to follow this flow:

  • An Extensive Examination
    Your hand therapist will evaluate you thoroughly and take a detailed history. We will take your hand through different tests to help us determine range of motion, severity of injuries, and more.
  • Customized Treatment Plan
    Hand therapists are trained to create treatment plans specific to every individual's needs. We factor in your condition, body type, and personal preferences into this plan. The therapy treatment may include activities to promote healing, skilled and fine movements, and more.
  • Home Exercise Programs
    Therapy doesn't stop once you leave the clinic. Your therapist will create a customized home exercise program so you can continue to make progress outside of your scheduled appointments. Completing exercises at home is crucial to quick recovery.
