Cardiac rehabilitation is a comprehensive therapy designed to support individuals recovering from heart-related issues, such as heart attacks or cardiac surgeries. The process typically involves three distinct phases. The initial phase focuses on stabilizing the patient's medical condition and managing any immediate concerns in a hospital setting while monitoring vital signs. The second phase starts after discharge with an emphasis on improving cardiovascular fitness, strength, and overall well-being while vitals are closely monitored.

Finally, the third phase, which is offered at our clinics, involves long-term maintenance and lifestyle modification. We teach patients to integrate heart-healthy habits into their daily lives, including exercise routines, dietary changes, and stress management, to promote sustained cardiovascular health.

What Happens During Phase 3 Cardiac Rehabilitation?

Working closely with your physicians, our therapists are dedicated to returning patients to a high level of independence. We start with an evaluation to get a base line of your cardiovascular abilities and set goals. As experts in gait training and body mechanics, physical therapists are able to create a progressive exercise plan to complete during therapy. You are responsible for monitoring your response to the prescribed exercises, such as reading your heart rate monitor provided by your therapist and perceived exertion. We then use this feedback to adjust the plan of care and ensure you are on your way to reaching your goals.
